The benefits of Ceramic Coating: Protect and Perfect your Paint

Over the last decade, Ceramic Coating services have exploded throughout the automotive, powersport, and marine industries. Growing up, we constantly heard about the benefits of “Carnuba Wax,” but now it seems that if it is not ceramic, it is not the way to go! So, what is Ceramic coating and why should you have it applied to your car, boat, or powersport vehicle? Let’s get into it!

What is Ceramic Coating? According to FEYNLAB, “Industry-grade ceramic coating is a chemical polymer solution that is applied to the exterior of a vehicle to protect it from external paint damage… a permanent or semi-permanent solution to your worries, depending upon the coating and type of polymer used. Due to its chemically intrinsic properties, it does not break down in adverse atmospheric conditions.”

The best way to summarize that: An incredibly strong transparent coating – far stronger than traditional waxes, and with great hydrophobic properties. Water will bead off smoother, the coating will last longer, and your paint will look even more glossy. Let’s break that down further below.

Protect Your Paint

First and foremost, Ceramic Coating creates a protective layer between your paint and the elements of the world. One of our favorite examples of this is protection against bird droppings.

While this may not seem like such a big deal, bird droppings are often highly acidic in nature. Combined with vehicles being commonly parked in direct sunlight, these droppings can easily burn into your paint and create a much more expensive problem. Why take the risk when you can have a Ceramic Coating installed and avoid this travesty?

Bird Droppings are not the only risk when it comes to automotive paint. Acid rain, soot from wildfires, sunscreen, bug spray, and other common everyday substances can cause serious damage to your paint.

Repel Dirt and Grime

Apart from protecting your paint, Ceramic Coatings do a wonderful job at repelling dirt and grime from everyday use. An uncoated paint will essentially act as a perfect surface for pollen, dirt, dust, road oils, and other contaminants that our vehicles face on a daily basis.

There is nothing worse than walking outside in the spring and seeing your freshly cleaned white car in an off-shade of Yellow. Not only is this visually unappealing, but the collection of pollen can transfer inside your vehicle through open windows as well as your cabin air intake.

Make Routine Washes Seamless

Due to its extremely hydrophobic nature, Ceramic Coating makes routine car washes incredibly easy and simple. The days of battling glue-like water pools and a pile of drying towels are gone. Once your ceramic coating has fully cured, you’re welcome to once again wash your car. You’ll notice that this time around, water simply beads off the car, and the filth you’re removing comes right off.

When it comes to washing a ceramic-coated vehicle, it is important that you use PH-Neutral based washes and, at a minimum, the two bucket method. Avoid touch and touchless automatic car washes, as the friction from the touch and the chemicals found in the soap at both can rapidly degrade your ceramic coating.

Gloss and Shine Like Never Before

Finally, Ceramic Coating will bring out a gloss and shine in the paint that you have never seen before. The paint will have a new depth and rich color, bringing out the best metallic flakes and finishes. When it comes to your own vehicle, don’t you want it looking its best at all times? If so, Ceramic Coating is for you!
